The Singapore Shell Employees' Union (SSEU) leadership has always kept their members' interest and welfare at heart. Their passion for wanting to serve the members in the Union is evident by their relentless pursuit to ensure that the workers benefits and compensation are always fair and competitive. In this regard I am glad that the Union and Management has recently concluded the Collective Agreement negotiations. Strong bipartite collaboration, concurrent with strong links to the ground, will be critical to SSEU's value and effectiveness as Shell Singapore and its employees weather the volatile economic challenges now and in the future. One practical area where SSEU and Management can work together is on the employment and employability of the workers. Technological advancements have hastened over the past few years and the way we do work is rapidly changing. Constant training and upskilling is vital for any worker to remain relevant and employable. A good job is the best welfare for any worker, beyond the welfare aspect, the Union now must also ensure that the workers are given the right skillsets and opportunities to learn and grow their job competency. By partnering the Union, I am confident that Shell will be able to upskills its workers and maintain its competitive edge. I wish SSEU a very happy 35th Anniversary and I look forward to your continued dedication to better the lives of our workers.
